Identity Verification Policy

1. Purpose

To comply with U.S. regulations, prevent fraud, and ensure a secure marketplace, Moto Parts Base requires identity verification for all sellers using Stripe Connect. This helps protect buyers, sellers, and the platform while meeting legal requirements (including KYC/AML obligations).

2. Who Must Verify

  • All new sellers must complete identity verification before activating their seller account and listing products.
  • Existing sellers may be required to verify or re-verify their identity at any time (e.g., when payout volume increases, for security reasons, or due to regulatory changes).
  • Buyers are generally not required to verify identity for standard purchases, unless suspicious activity is detected.

3. Verification Process (Powered by Stripe Connect)

We use Stripe Identity and Stripe Connect for secure, automated verification. You will be prompted to provide the following information/documents:

For Individual Sellers / Sole Proprietors:

  • Full legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or state ID)
  • Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, etc., dated within the last 90 days)

For Business Sellers (LLC, Corporation, Partnership):

  • Business legal name and DBA (if any)
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • Business address and phone number
  • Information about beneficial owners (individuals who own 25% or more of the company)
  • Authorized representative’s personal identification (as above)
  • Business formation documents (Articles of Incorporation/Organization, etc.)

Stripe will guide you through uploading documents securely during the onboarding process in your Seller Dashboard.

4. Verification Timeline

  • Most verifications are completed automatically within minutes to a few hours.
  • In some cases, manual review may take 1–3 business days.
  • You will receive email notification once your account is approved or if additional information is required.
  • Until verification is complete, you may browse and add products, but you cannot publish listings or receive payouts.

5. Payouts and Account Status

  • Verified sellers can receive payouts via Stripe to their linked U.S. bank account (ACH) or other supported methods.
  • Unverified or suspended accounts will have payouts paused until verification is resolved.
  • High-volume sellers may be subject to additional review or enhanced due diligence.

6. Data Privacy & Security

  • All identity documents and personal information are processed securely by Stripe in compliance with PCI DSS, SOC 2, and applicable U.S. privacy laws (including CCPA/CPRA).
  • We do not share your personal information with third parties except as necessary for verification, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

7. Rejection or Suspension

We reserve the right to reject, suspend, or close any seller account if:

  • Verification fails or cannot be completed.
  • Provided information is false, incomplete, or misleading.
  • Activity violates our Terms of Service or raises fraud concerns.
